Vocal Instructor

Rylan Yashiki has loved music and singing for as long as he could remember. As a little boy growing up in Hawaii he could often be found roaming the house wearing head phones and belting out tunes. He later learned to play the saxophone, guitar and ukulele. He honed his skills, and by their request, became a vocal coach and ukulele teacher to his friends and family.

Rylan began his professional singing career as "The Voice of Hilo Hatties" where he worked as their greeting entertainer at their main Nimitz location for more than five years. He played the ukulele and sang songs to guests as they arrived. In 2005 Rylan was Hawaii's First Place regional winner in the National Talent Quest competition and went on to compete at nationals in Laughlin Nevada placing in the top 20 of more than 250 contestants. In 2006 Rylan was the only armature singer invited to participate in the Hawaii Stars Society of Seven Edition making it all the way to the finals and placing top 6 among Hawaii's renowned professional entertainers. Rylan has also served as judge for the Keiki Hawaii Stars competitions.

Rylan served as Pas De Deux Hawaii’s Musical Theatre Music Director for 5 years directing vocals for shows such as The Lion King, Jr., Peter Pan Jr., Frozen Jr, and Moana, Jr. Rylan has also served as worship leader and platform singer with Grace Bible Church Pearlside from 2008-2019. Currently he lends his voice to Pas De Deux Hawaii’s Polynesian Department singing live and playing the ukulele for their Annual Ho’ike and public performances. He also often serves as emcee for their events. Most recently he traveled to San Francisco to participate in Rahiti Polynesian Dance’s Annual Ho’ike singing mele and playing the ukulele.

With both of his daughters taking dance here at Pas De Deux Hawaii, the studio has become a special place. Rylan's goal as a vocal instructor is to help his students find their unique style and pass on his love of song.
