& Vocal Coordinator

Jessica Yashiki, born and raised in Hawaii, has been involved in the theatre world since she was 12 years old. Preferring back stage to being on stage, growing up at The Leeward Theatre, she took an early interest in creating sets, manning the light board and even took on front of house duties. She began by painting sets, drilling holes and pounding nails at 12 years old. By 15 she was patching lights and running the light board. She was the light board operator for shows at The Leeward Theatre such as, Anything Goes, La Cage aux Folles, Nunsence as well as numerous Modern Dance Festivals and outside rentals just to name a few. In 1990 she received a Hawaii State Theatre Counsil Po’okela Award for Volunteer of the Year for all the numerous hours she spent at the theatre.

Jessica attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa receiving a bachelor’s degree in Psychology while continuing to lend her time to The Leeward Theatre has front of house support, eventually becoming one of their House Managers.

After college, having also worked in the medical field since the age of 15, she worked as a Medical Office Manager for 16 years and continues to work as a medical biller today. She became a member of the Pas De Deux Hawaii staff in 2016, first as an admin at the front desk, and in 2018 moved on to becoming the Vocal Coordinator for the Sound Lab Department. In January 2021 she also took on the role of PDD’s Musical Theatre Departments Stage Manager. Jessica was also the co-script writer and editor of PDD’s 3rd Annual Sunset Ho’ike Ka Holomoana (The Voyage of the Ocean) and has served as emcee for many on location Polynesian department performances.

Her experience in leadership roles, immersion in all aspects of theatre and being a dance mom gives her a unique perspective that has become invaluable to her roles as Vocal Coordinator and Stage Manager.
